17歳の私が立ったあの舞台で――Healing Harmony Project が届ける“癒しの輪”

いよいよ今週土曜日（10/18）、金沢でコンサート開催！

(English >>) 会場は、私が高校生の頃、演劇部の一員として舞台に立たせていただいた「石川県文教会館ホール」。高校2年生・17歳の時に演じたのは「おばあちゃん役」。その前年の16歳では、主人公の母親であり“銀座のママ”という役どころでした。昔から“ふけキャラ”担当で（笑）、等身大の役を演じた記憶はあまりありませんが、どれも心に残る大切な思い出です。

そんな懐かしい文教会館ホールの舞台に、今回ふたたび立たせていただきます。胸が熱くなるような、ふるさとでの再会です。

Healing Harmony Projectとは

今年の5月から、ふるさと石川県の行政とのコラボレーション企画「いしかわ舞台芸術祭：Healing Harmony Project」のプロデューサーとして携わらせていただいてきました。

県内外から集まった47名の参加者とともに、5ヶ月間にわたって舞台芸術を通した学びと練習を重ねてきました。初回のワークショップは対面で、以降は毎月オンラインで石川とニューヨークをつなぎ、私がアメリカのミュージカル界で学んだ“舞台芸術の核となるエッセンス”をお伝えしてきました。

そして先日、待ちに待った「本番1週間前リハーサル」を金沢で開催。参加者やスタッフの皆さんと久々に直接お会いし、同じ空間で声と心を合わせられたことが本当に幸せでした。

「癒しの輪」が広がっていく瞬間

この5ヶ月間、スタッフを含めた全員が「自分のハートとまっすぐ向き合う時間」を過ごしてきました。歌の中でも、仲間との交流の中でも、そして日常生活の中でも、“どんな言葉を、どんな想いで伝えるか”を意識してきたことが、大きな変化を生みました。

最初は初対面だった参加者同士が、今ではあたたかく支え合う仲間に。勇気を持って飛び込み、心を開いてつながる中で、自然と「癒しの輪」が広がっていきました。まさにプロジェクト名そのもの――Healing Harmony（癒しの調和）の実現です。

演劇が教えてくれたこと

私自身も、演劇との出会いを通して、たくさんの「癒し」を経験し、人生が大きく変わりました。たとえプロの道に進まなかったとしても、あの時演劇に出会えて本当に良かった――そう心から思います。

物語の中で人間の心を描くには、まず自分自身の感情を理解することが第一歩。

心を開くこと

ありのままの自分と向き合うこと（とても勇気が要りますが）

そして、ありのままの自分を受け入れること（私も日々取り組み中です）

このプロセスを通して、人は少しずつ変わっていきます。

自分の中の感情を知る

他人の感情を理解し、共感できるようになる　

↓

人をそのまま受け入れられるようになる　

↓

思いやりのあるつながりが生まれる　

↓

そのつながりが「癒し」を生み、「癒しの輪」として広がっていくのです。

そして、舞台芸術はまさにその最初の一歩――自分の感情を知り、感じ、表現することを導いてくれる、とても力強いツールです。歌うこと、演じること、身体を使って感情を表すことで、私たちは「感じる」ことを許可し、心の奥にある想いや感情を優しく外に解き放つことができます。その体験こそが、癒しとつながりの始まりだと感じています。

能登への祈りを込めて

2024年元旦、ふるさと石川県で起きた能登半島地震。その復興には、これからも長期的な「心のケア」のサポートが必要とされています。このプロジェクトで生まれた「癒しの輪」が、少しでも多くの方の心に、そっと届きますように。

Healing Harmony Projectは、参加者と観客が一体となり、舞台芸術が持つ“癒す力”を体感していただく場です。

Returning to My Hometown Stage — The Healing Harmony Project 2025

This Saturday, October 18, we’ll take the stage in Kanazawa for the Healing Harmony Project: Broadway Musical Concert.

The venue, Ishikawa Bunkyō Kaikan Hall, holds a special place in my heart. It’s the same stage where I once stood as a high school student — a member of the drama club, full of dreams.

When I was 17, I was cast as “the grandmother.”The year before, at 16, I played the protagonist’s mother — a “Ginza bar owner.”I guess I was always cast as the mature character, and I don’t remember ever playing a role my own age. But each of those performances remains a treasured memory.

Now, years later, I’ll be standing on that same stage again — a return that fills my heart with deep emotion and gratitude.

About the Healing Harmony Project

Since May, I’ve had the honor of serving as producer for the Healing Harmony Project —a collaborative initiative with the government of my hometown, Ishikawa Prefecture, as part of the Ishikawa Performing Arts Festival.

Over the past five months, 47 participants from across the region have been learning and rehearsing together, exploring the beauty and power of performing arts. We began with an in-person workshop, and since then, we’ve connected monthly online — bridging New York and Ishikawa — as I shared the core essence of musical theatre that I’ve learned through my years on Broadway.

Just recently, we held our “one-week-before” in-person rehearsal in Kanazawa. Reuniting face to face with the participants and staff after so many months was pure joy. Singing, moving, and breathing together in the same space reminded me how powerful the energy of live collaboration can be.

When the Circle of Healing Begins to Grow

Over these past five months, every participant — including the staff — has spent time looking deeply into their own hearts. Through song, communication, and everyday life, we’ve all reflected on how we express our words and intentions. That awareness alone brought tremendous transformation.

People who met for the first time in May have now become a warm, supportive community. By taking the brave step to join, open their hearts, and connect with one another, they’ve created a gentle and genuine circle of healing. It’s exactly what this project stands for — Healing Harmony.

What Theatre Has Taught Me

Through theatre, I’ve experienced countless moments of healing that truly changed my life. Even if I had never chosen a professional path, I would still be deeply grateful for having discovered the world of performing arts.

To portray the human heart on stage, the first step is understanding your own emotions.

To open your heart.↓To face your authentic self (which takes real courage).↓And to accept yourself as you are (something I’m still learning every day).

Through this process, transformation begins.

You start to know your own emotions.↓You begin to understand and empathize with others.↓You learn to accept people just as they are.↓You create compassionate connections.↓And from those connections, healing is born — expanding outward like ripples in water.

Performing arts are one of the most powerful ways to begin this journey — to feel, express, and release what lives inside your heart. Through singing, acting, and moving your body, you give yourself permission to feel. You allow your emotions to flow and find freedom — and that experience, I believe, is where healing and connection truly begin.

With a Prayer for Noto

On New Year’s Day 2024, the Noto Peninsula Earthquake struck my beloved Ishikawa. Recovery will take time — and what’s needed most now and in the years ahead is emotional healing.

May the circle of healing that began through this project reach the hearts of many — softly, and with compassion.

The Healing Harmony Project is a space where participants and audiences come together to experience the power of performing arts to heal, unite, and inspire.
